Forestry applications: 3 August 2026 to 16 August 2026

Felling applications across the Borders and Highlands dominate new activity, while two very large woodland-creation grant cases opened for comment near Roberton and Dunblane.

Newly captured

Most newly first archived records are felling applications, concentrated in Scottish Borders and Highland, alongside two sizeable forestry grant scheme woodland-creation cases: Whitslaid WC near Roberton (about 489 hectares) and a second large grant case near Dunblane. Two felling records already carry an approved status: Longford Sandys Wood near Breich, where a decision was issued on 7 August, and Aberchalder Estate near Fort Augustus. Both are included because Standingwire first archived them this period, with status current as observed on 17 August.

Decisions issued

Ten felling applications were approved, spread across seven council areas and covering a modest combined area. The largest were the Mountblairy Trust site near Huntly (about 18 hectares) and Gruinard Estate near Laide (about 7 hectares). One approval, Cawdor Wood near Cawdor, is recorded with no area.

Deadlines before the next report

Many consultations close between 17 and 30 August, with a clear concentration in Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. Selected examples include the River Laxford riparian planting near Scourie (about 67 hectares, closing 21 August) and Myredykes Forest near Hawick (about 34 hectares, closing 26 August). Several cases close on 17 August, so anyone wishing to comment should act quickly.

For the Mountblairy Trust felling application and Longford Sandys Wood, the source lists the consultation closing before it opens. Standingwire has not inferred a correction, and those closing dates should not be treated as valid deadlines.
