Account and email data

If you create an account or request the fortnightly briefing, Standingwire uses your email address to create and authenticate your account, send the confirmation link, and deliver reports you have requested. Clerk provides authentication and Resend delivers transactional and briefing emails. You can stop briefing emails at any time without deleting your account.

Page-view analytics

Standingwire uses Simple Analytics to count page views and referrers. It is cookieless and collects no personal data or device identifiers, so it needs no consent and runs for everyone. Simple Analytics processes this data in the EU.

Optional product analytics

With your consent, Standingwire uses PostHog EU Cloud to understand how people find the service and whether features such as search, bookmarks, statistics, application documents, and reports are useful. PostHog processes this analytics data in the EU. We configure analytics data to be retained for 12 months.

Analytics events may contain a Clerk user ID after you confirm or sign in, controlled category values, public application references, and broad feature-use information. They do not contain your name, email address, organisation name, free-text profile answers, monitoring requests, or raw search terms. Autocapture and session replay are disabled.

Analytics is based on consent. It does not initialise until you accept analytics cookies, and declining does not affect the service. You can change your choice on the cookies page.

Public-register data

Standingwire archives information published on the Scottish Forestry Public Register under the Open Government Licence. This is kept separate from account and analytics data.

Your choices

You can change email-report preferences from your account menu, unsubscribe using the link in a report, and change analytics consent on the cookies page. Requests about access, correction, or deletion can be made to the operator through the contact details associated with Standingwire.
