Our bot

StandingWire helps forestry professionals find land for sale and assess its forestry potential. Our crawler, StandingwirePropertyBot, keeps property information up to date from selected public sources.

What it collects

The bot reads public property listings, feeds and listing APIs. Depending on the source, it also retrieves linked brochures and plans. It collects details such as location, acreage, asking price and sale status, and checks for changes over time.

We use this information to organise listings, produce summaries and provide forestry context in Land for Sale. Listings link back to their original sources.

Recognising our requests

Our property crawler sends this User-Agent header:

StandingwirePropertyBot/1.0 (public property-sale monitoring; contact: admin@standingwire.com)

The crawler supports Web Bot Auth signatures to identify its requests cryptographically when signing is enabled. A User-Agent header alone is not proof that a request came from StandingWire. Signed identity does not override a website's access rules.

How it accesses websites

Requests are limited to configured source hosts, with pacing, timeouts and response-size limits. The crawler backs off on rate limits and reports access refusals and Cloudflare challenges for operator review. It does not sign in to private areas or solve browser challenges.

Before fetching source content, the bot checks robots.txt for StandingwirePropertyBot, falling back to the * group. It follows Allow and Disallow rules and honours valid Crawl-delay values. A missing file (404 or 410) permits access; if the file is blocked or cannot be read, collection stops for review.

Contact us about a crawl

If you operate a website and want to discuss access, suggest a feed, correct information or ask us to stop collecting from your site, email admin@standingwire.com. Please include your domain and, where available, the affected URL, request time and Cloudflare Ray ID so we can investigate.
