Forestry applications: 8 June 2026 to 21 June 2026

The Scottish Forestry Public Register recorded 18 new applications during the fortnight from 8 to 21 June 2026, covering a combined 142.85 hectares. Every application in this period was a Felling Permission Application (FPA) — a request to fell standing trees.

Notable applications

Two applications stand out for their size and are closely matched:

Boon Plantation (FPA-13523), near Lauder in the Scottish Borders, at 36.32 hectares — the largest in this batch. It is open for comment until 7 August 2026.
Craighead Forest (FPA-13541), near Alyth in Perth and Kinross, at 36.07 hectares, open for comment until 14 August 2026.

Together these two sites account for roughly half of the total area registered in the fortnight.

Other sizeable applications include:

Grey Hill (FPA-13551) near Langholm, Dumfries and Galloway, at 19.10 hectares.
Redwells Farm (FPA-13524) near Kilwinning, East Ayrshire, at 12.08 hectares.
Castle of Park (FPA-13525) near Glenluce, Dumfries and Galloway, at 11.65 hectares.

At the other end of the scale, several small applications were lodged, including Falla near Oxnam in the Scottish Borders (0.67 hectares) and Dunecht Estates – Cormoir Wood near Banchory, Aberdeenshire (1.03 hectares).

The two applications already approved in this period are both modest in size: Ardargie in Perth and Kinross (1.15 hectares) and, listed among the wider set, further small-scale cases. The single application Under Consideration is Fortissat Mains Farm (FPA-13515) near Salsburgh, North Lanarkshire, covering 5.44 hectares.

Overall, the fortnight was dominated by felling proposals, with two large Borders and Perthshire plantations driving much of the total area, and a cluster of smaller farm and estate woodland applications making up the remainder.
